INSTRUCTOR ACADEMY DATES
26 July - 17 September 2010
A 53 day course designed to give you a head start in the world of instructing and coaching in the outdoor adventure industry. The course objective is to develop personal skills, introduce you to the current regulations guiding working in the industry, and gain the first qualifications to enable you to go into the role of an outdoor instructor.
During the course you will have the opportunity to work towards the following outdoor instructor qualifications:
- H.S.E approved ‘First Aid in the outdoors’
- British Canoe Union 1 – 4 star personal skill awards
- BCU Foundation Safety & Rescue Training
- British Canoe Union ‘Level 1 Coach Award or higher’ (for those that have managed to gain the pre required 2 star and FSRT)
- Rescue 3 International Swift Water rescue Technician.
- MLTE Climbing Wall Award.
- MLTE Single Pitch Award Training (for those who gain the relevant personal skills and experience will have the opportunity to complete this 2 day training course).
In addition to these formal outdoor instructor qualifications we will also present competence certificates for supervising site specific activities for people who wish to work towards them in:
- Personal Navigation Skills - including orienteering
- Artificial Caving systems
- Archery
- Quad Biking
- Raft building.
- Low and high ropes courses.
- Mountain Biking.
- Paintball / Laser games.
